We lost. Get the fuck over it. Literally 3 hours before the loss this sub had a post on the front page wondering how the hell Mark wasn't coach of the year, and now y'all want his head.

Caruso saw AG, a career sub-70% free throw shooter, get the inbound and fouled him. He made both.

Chet, a career 80% free throw shooter, missed both.

That's the game. Y'all ranting about our vaunted 3pt defending team who lost it by missing two free throws then failing to defend a 4 second offensive possession leading to an open 3.

I get it, a lot of you probably didn't pay attention for the last few years so you don't understand what it's like to lose. We weren't going to 16-0 the playoffs. That was never on the menu. If you can't get over a loss you're gonna have an awful time for the rest of the playoffs.

Is the NBA MVP Award getting announced tonight? I see no talk of it from the NBA and it would make no sense not to if SGA was the one to win it. No guarantee we make it back home for game 5.

Obviously the most important task at hand is to win, for the Thunder to have a reasonable chance of taking this series. However, from a macro level the benchmark for this Thunder roster is effort. Denver is coming off a 7 game series, and they absolutely have to be tired and worn to a certain degree. Now that the jitters of game 1 are over for both teams, it becomes a series.

If this Thunder roster is mentally serious about a championship run, they have to put out more effort and win more lose balls than the Nuggets. However much energy the Nuggets throw into this game, the young and rested Thunder squad has to exceed it by at least one level. If they do that, we will know they have the drive to get it done. Even if they have a horrible shooting night and drop the game, the Thunder absolutely have to out-effort Denver to prove this roster can be a contender this year or in the near future.

I realize this sounds corny as hell, but MJ, Kobe, all of the greats knew when to push their teammates into a max effort overdrive for critical games. And their teammates would respond because their life would be a living hell if they didn’t. SGA has to be able to illicit that response from his teammates if they are truly ready for the next step.

I'm not doom and glooming, I just want to give some more macro-context than what's been talked about here.

People are rightfully critical of the coaching decisions down the stretch, but I think the bigger and more astounding storyline from this game is this:

The Nuggets, WITHIN 48 HOURS, completed a 7-game series against who many would consider the best 5-8 seed team, jumped on a plane to OKC, then beat a 72 win team that's played 4 serious games in the last month in one of the hardest arenas to win in.

Given that context, I don't think coaching lapses comes close to fully explaining how befuddling this loss was. Literally could not have asked for better circumstances coming into this game outside of Jokic deciding he misses the horse-life and flying back to Serbia through a last-second Will Rogers layover.

Winning game 1 at home is huge and sets the tone. This game should've been won if not for the stupid fouling up 3 . Now you've put a ton of pressure on a young team by making game 2 absolutely 100% a must win game . I've never seen a coach cost their team a playoff game like what happened tonight .

Just asking because some fans I heard would rather Russ win a ring.

Like shit man, it just been a cool 37-16 quarter….

Cavs, Celtics, and OKC all with big chokes. The top 3 teams in the league all year.

1) Celtics 20 point second half lead lost in OT at home.

2) Cavs 20 point biggest lead, 10 point lead in 4th and lost the game with horrible execution in last 2 mins.

3) OKC choking the foul game at the end and letting Denver end on a 19-6 run.

If there’s anything these playoffs show is that nobody is immortal and anyone can lose at any time, nobody how dominant your team has been.

Hopefully tomorrow our team got the wake up call they needed and are ready to tie this up. TTFU

The Cavs have just went through the exact same thing as us in Game 2 and now have to go to Indiana down 2-0.

The Wolves are currently on a cold streak and losing 36-24 versus the Warriors as the announcers mentioned Curry said playing every other day keeps their team in rhythm.(We haven’t played in 9 days)

This Thunder team is good at adjustments and they obviously know what not to do. People bring up the inexperienced argument but if we don’t face circumstances like this, how will they learn how to overcome adversity? The team will be fine.

It's not an award I pay attention to and I'm a neutral....but surely this can't be? I thought he'd at least have 2 of these by now. Last season for example. Crazy.

Alright, I've gone through the 5 stages of grief with Game 1 and how it ended. Onto Game 2 and onto tying this series up. TTFU

Second game in a row our playoff shirts look more like Denver colors than our own.

Sure it was a bad loss, but we are the best fucking team in the nba! This is nothing! Stop pointing fingers! Get ready to TTFU tomorrow!

I was at the game yesterday, we showed our inexperiences: fouling 94 feet away from the basket and giving Denver a chance to inch closer while stopping the shot clock in the 4Q, the non-SGA offense slump, fouling up three without running the clock, timeout management and letting Jokic sub in etc. etc.

But I weirdly still feel confident about this OKC team, losing G1 at home sucks, but is not doomsday. Out of curiosity, I found a few recent champions who lost game 1 at home but won the series:

Don't forget we used to be on the opposite of this: we won g1 in the Bay and held 3:1 against 2016 warriors. I am excited about how the team is gonna respond in game 2. TTFU!!

Our coach looked like a middle school coach, and even worse didn’t take accountability in the post game presser.

If we don’t make some adjustments and keep doing it, then it’s GG and its F5 season and we have plenty of time to bitch and come up with crazy ideas of how to fix the team that Presti 100% will not do.

But for now shake it off and light a candle for the savior of lost basketball teams, St. Caruso, in hopes that he may bless us with his crafty hands again next game.

Then you weren't a fan in that era and you also don't know all the things Russ has done off the court for Oklahoma. Even years after being traded, he is still giving to our community. I keep seeing the watch parties in OKC/Tulsa and I’m jealous. So I(M23) was wondering how many Thunder fans are in San Antonio and might want to link up for the playoffs. Thunder up!

I see everyone on here complaining about the challenge and the foul that Mark called and now want his head, but like come on guys it was a mistake and I honestly don’t think that he is the sole reason why we lost. I don’t want to sound like one of those people that always blame the refs but the fact that they sent the nuggets to line 4 or 5 possessions in a row is absolutely ridiculous. Especially in some of the calls like the one that got challenged and the one where Russ literally stopped in front of Caruso and made him fall to where it looked like a push.

Ik the television doesn’t show everything but I was there last night and some of these replays were absolutely insane. But on a note of accountability yes they do need to not go cold from three for a whole quarter and yes free throws should be automatic but it’s only game one. The guys live and they learn like literally we saw them do that with the Cavs this year.

Everyone just stay calm there’s nothing they can do about the game now all they can do is come back from it and play better tomorrow.

Now that we’ve all slept on the disasterclass that was last night (I didn’t sleep worth a shit, thanks Mark.❤️)

My 4 takeaways from this game-

-Denver is very, very beatable when you turn Jokic into a scorer as opposed to passing. I think if we keep limiting the supporting cast we will be just fine.

-Chet and Dub have to be better. It’s that simple really. You can’t play like this in the playoffs and still expect a max contract.

-The role players have to be better. I’m talking to YOU Caso and Joe. Airballing wide open 3s is just fucking sad. Especially when that’s what you’re getting paid to do.

-Lastly, Denver has a crazy ass whistle. What is up with these European guys and their constant flopping and whining to officials?

Regardless, the team has to do better and especially Mark has to do better. If we lose game 2 I’ll start to worry.
