I’m (pretty) sure that Garland and Hunter will play. Hunter’s thumb injury isn’t great but is something you can play through (see Curry with a horribly swollen mangled thumb). Garland’s issue is a pain tolerance thing, and at this point, his team needs him. I’m sure he’ll gut through it. I’d rather have a 70% Garland than no Garland and no Mobley.

That said I’m pretty concerned about Evan. Tbh, I can see him missing one or two games and us having to stay afloat without him. But I think we can win one game at home without Evan and then steal one on the road in Indy. If we can do that, we’re in good shape.

Just need JA, Jerome and Don to have monster games tonight and Darius and Hunter to play.

Only objective now is to come back to CLE for game 5 at least 2-2.

Anyone else feel better after seeing Boston lose game 1 too? I just hope Garland, Mobley and Hunter can play the rest of the series. Boston is beatable if we can get past Indiana.

Is there any other news on game 3 yet. Reports were saying garland is still having trouble putting weight on his foot today. Im not sure he will play. I honestly doubt it. He would be out 1 to 2 weeks if this were the regular season. I’m optimistic that Mobley will play. Hunter I’m not sure about

Garland i understand he should be playing but now no doubt but Mobley and Hunter got hurt 2 days ago and their bodies might not be ready yet

How the hell is he allowed to come down on Donovan's head like that? This is the kind of shit that could lead to a career ending injury. Whether intentional or not, not calling anything is beyond bullshit and endangering players.

Wanted to check the shot quality of Game 1 because I left the game feeling like the shot quality was similar.

35/36 of Pacer's threes were considered wide open (25) or open (10) while 28/38 were considered wide open (11) or open (17). Ignoring the efficiency between the two bc its night and day and only caring about shot quality.

My eye test was wrong. I was under the impression we were getting similar shot quality from our C&S's.

It makes sense that we had a bad night from range even if it was much worse than it should have been and that they had a great day even though it was much better than it should have been. Wanted to see the stats so I could definitively say Cavs need to change something for game 2. Cavs need to change their defensive coverage for game 2. Pacers were looking for the extra pass every time and Cavs were selling out on the drives.

Cavs also need Garland for more playmaking/secondary playmaking. Having the lineups with only one of Mitch or Jerome gives the Pacers free rein to pester them to make the rest of the team make plays.

I didn’t like the shirts for the fans in game one already sparking cockiness. I didn’t like the “overrated chants” in the first half of this game. I didn’t like we had our main fellas out and that 2/3 were hurt by the other team. I also didn’t like the calls. This was set-up to be a complete cluster. With that being said and with a couple hours to calm myself… This would be the team to come back and win this… As Ted Lasso once said… “BELIEVE”.

THIS IS BELIEVELAND.

That shit definitely stung, but we were underdogs with 2 all-stars out and our best player gave everything tonight.

This team still has so much talent and we have been decent on the road all season. We can still win this in 6 or 7, just like we came back from 3-1 in 2016.

IND still has to win two more games, and the Cavs have been able to go on streaks all year long. I've seen plenty of teams go up 2-0, even away teams, and end up blowing it. The Pacers have won by pure luck and nothing else. Luck always runs out in the NBA.

And even if we somehow lose, it will only be because of injuries. It wouldn't be as bad as when the Celtics lost to 8 seed Miami in 2023, and they won it all in 2024.

All I'm saying is this teams window is far from closed regardless of the outcome of this series, and I still think we have a great shot to win.

The Cavs collapse leading up to Haliburton’s game winner makes this one feel much worse.

I know the guy is supposed to be a defensive specialist... But he is so bad on offense he makes me want to gouge my eyes out. Can't he make an open shot? Like come on man.

In my opinion, it’s one of the bigger what ifs of the past 5 years. The rockets would’ve had a savage front court with Mobley and Sengun, and we might not have traded for Mitchell due to us believing in Jalen Greens progress.

I remember the rockets sub was absolutely slandering Mobley during the draft process.

1x All star

2nd Team All nba (most likely)

And the kicker is that Mobleys turned in a solid 3 point shooter

I get it the reality is we’re banged up and it’s looking like the season is a scrap. I’ve been feeling negative and down since last night as im sure most of us were. Darius Garland has to play friday or he needs to get shipped out, Mitchell put his life on the line for us to try and win at home and we lost. the world has the cavs counted out at this point and it looks likely at this point. We need our guys back and to hit on all cylinders like WE KNOW THEY CAN, THEY WENT ON WHAT? 3 different WINNING STREAKS? I hope our guys are able to come back and show that they were the first seed for a reason, give the pacers a reality check, punch them in their mouth and do what we know they can do. apologies for my optimism but we gotta let em know till it’s over, none of this means shit if our core guys are out but atp if garland doesn’t play this series honestly just trade the guy. Kenny coached a phenomenal game. Our players absolutely ran out of gas and had nothing left to give, the rebounding and inbounding failures had nothing to do with him. As for playing Ty down the stretch, we literally had no other option. We needed a secondary ball handler for Donovan and CPJ does not have the experience nor the free throw shooting. Heartbreaking loss, but this is the consequence of missing two all stars and having to play max Strus at power forward.

The game tonight left me in total shock and heartbreak for an hour or two. Then I remembered 2016 when our local hero, who just happened to be the the second best player of all time, led the Cavs to victory over the best team in NBA history on Father's Day. It's not possible for sports joy to get any better than that: "Cleveland, this is for you!"

Now the comparison game, I'm proud to have a star like Mitchell who gave everything he had instead of someone like James Harden who checks out in the biggest games. I'm glad we're not the Rockets who picked Jalen Green over Evan Mobley and Green was virtually unplayable against the Warriors most of the series. I'm glad we're not the Bucks who are completely stuck with their roster and can't win even with Giannis.

Cavs have tremendous upside with Mobley and Mitchell. I think Mobley is going to be a winning player for a long time and we already know Mitchell is a winning player. Currently fed up with Garland talking shit about Herro and then missing four games in a row with a toe issue. He's been great this season but I have questions about his maturity and commitment. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to know the truth behind the scenes because NBA teams are kind of like a black box and it's hard to get the real story.

Now the negativity: I don't see this Cavs team coming back from 0-2 given the health issues. If everyone was 100% I think we'd have a good shot. This was the game they needed. Indiana is going to have one of those games where they catch fire and make a ton of shots, we had our chance tonight and let it go.

The final 1 minute of the game just lasted for nearly 30 minutes. It’s a terrible aspect of the game and extremely frustrating to watch. Play the game for real. Want to know why NBA ratings are down? Because games feel like they last 4 fucking hours. It’s exhausting.

I’m not just saying it because of tonight either. I’ve been saying this all year, but this game was the worst. Start giving out technical fouls beyond a certain point.

BTW Donovan Mitchell took an additional 2-3 BIG hits because of this stupidity, so it increased an already chippy and injury-riddled game.

Mobley has no one on the Pacers that can slow him down. Ev needs 20 shots a game, especially when DG is out. Inexcusable that the Cavs went away from Ev when he was rolling late in the game. Donovan has no one that can stay in front of him on the Pacers. He needs to keep attacking the rim and get Nembhard and Nesmith in foul trouble.

Pacers are good, they shot out of their minds. Doubt that’ll continue, they were also able to full-court press and trap us to an extent that would never have been possible if we had our best ball handler/facilitator on the floor. Hope DG can come back - we need him.

We had multiple 15 game win streaks this season. We’re the only team in NBA history to come back from down 3-1 in the Finals. Of all teams, we should know this is not an immediate death sentence. Will it be easy to win 4 of the next 5 with a big homecourt disadvantage? Hell no. But this team has shown they are more than capable.

I know we’re all pissed at the absolute train wreck of the last minute but the series is not over

The Cavaliers were a very special team at full strength. Garland averages 2.3 threes a game on a career average of 38%, 2.7 fts a game on a career average of 87%. We missed three point shooting, and the Pacers couldn’t miss from three. Regression to the norm is due. The Pacers will not shoot the ball from three this well all series. They shot 53% from three and the Cavs shot 24%. The Pacers shot 93% from the line while the Cavs shot 72%.

Please don’t get me started on the absolute shit squad the referee crew was.

My biggest fear about the cavs was them thinking the playoffs was just high level basketball game. No these other teams are trying to hurt them. I’ll say it. The pacers are a dirty team. The off hand shove on Hunter is a clearly dirty play when he is airborn. Standing over him afterwards is normally assessed as a technical, yet nothing. Investigate these refs, that not being a foul upon review is evidence. The Mobley ankle, dirty.
