I have been jonesing while texting buddies during the playoffs for a Pacers "sticker" I can add to texts in Messages. I have 2-3 for IU (they're free), but cannot find a Pacers one anywhere, and after a cursory look, don't think I have the chops to create one myself. Anyone in the sub want to take a stab at it so we can all more easily spread the love moving forward? Thx in advance! And let's goooooooo tonight!
The Pacers finished 29th in the league in free throw discrepancy against opponents this season, shooting 445 less free throws than opponent. This was a big improvement for us as we have finished LAST in this category in 2023-24, 2022-23, and 2021-22. This has been a constant theme as a Pacers fan over the years, especially the discrepancies we tend to have even when playing at home. In these current playoffs, we have shot more free throws than our opponent in only 1 of the 7 games. For the Bucks fans, it may have seemed uncomfortably lopsided, due to the fact that Milwaukee had the #1 free throw differential in the entire league, shooting +234 to beat out the Lakers at #2. Indiana has gotten 44 free throws in round 2…Donovan Mitchell has 30 by himself. NBA teams who shoot less free throws than opponents lose 60-65% of their games. The Pacers win despite this.
I’m planning to go to an NBA game this Sunday, but I have a big backpack that won’t be allowed to be carried inside. Is there a locker near the stadium? I do not have a car, nor do I have a place to stay. My friend will pick me up after the game, but he won’t come in and watch the game.
He's been bad this series vs. Cleveland, which is absolutely inexcusable as one of the max players/the All Star (at least this season) of the team, but as a Raptors fan who has him as their favorite player (and thus has seen all his ups and downs with the org/as a player and the way the Raptors fanbase also treated him) and follows the general discourse about him on social media, the Indy fanbase at large really doesn't deserve him lol.
I know Haliburton is getting the brunt of the shit thrown at him right now after Game 3 and has had his own fair share of flip-flopping opinions from Indiana fans, but at least with him it always seems to come from a place of love/disappointment where people just want him to do better. Ultimately despite the criticism the fans still back him and have belief in him, and when he does have his amazing moments he is properly venerated for them as the face of the franchise he is.
In contrast Siakam carries the team during the beginning of this season while Tyrese was not playing well and key guys like Nembhard and Nesmith are injured, is the team's All-Star (not from fan vote but from coaches' vote), was arguably the best player last playoffs and is the top reason why the team grabbed a quick 2-0 lead over Milwaukee in the first round this year, and yet there's never really any grand acknowledgment of what he's contributed. People will staunchly defend Tyrese any time anyone even voices the opinion that Siakam could be the best player on the team (which ftr, I don't agree with - Tyrese is and SHOULD be the team's best player). Homegrown guys like Turner and Nembhard and even Mathurin and Walker (who haven't really truly shown to be large and consistent enough contributors to the team's winning results) will get multiple posts/comments about their wonderful plays, and when they have their down games it's called out but never in the vitriolic way people are now doing for Siakam this series.
And I get it, he's a Championship winning vet on a max contract that's eating up space for potential money that the team could pay for a better player/distribute towards said homegrown talent instead (because everyone always wants to win with ALL of their drafted guys despite that not being realistic) and he's not performing to that standard right now, and it's also just sports fandom nature to be reactionary as hell. But he's also greatly underutilized in the Pacers' free-flowing offense (the fact that a bench + Siakam lineup is one of the team's set rotations and he is never the primary ball handler/sits on the 3 point line while TJ McConnell pounds the ball for 18 seconds is a travesty + multiple respected basketball analysts say so themselves that he should be involved in the offense more) and is so underappreciated for everything he's done to get this team to where they've been these last two years, and it's just sad to see.
To end this soapbox lol, I honestly think the Pacers should just trade Siakam this off-season (providing his value isn't tanked) regardless of the outcome these playoffs (barring a chip lol), because clearly he's not good enough to take this team over the hump in the way the team wants him to (i.e. fast-paced/egalitarian offense + being a key defensive anchor for a team that's bad defensively), and he's just getting in the way of paying/developing/spotlighting their homegrown and other beloved players.
Random stuff I’ve found on IG. Thought it was cool
I started investing more time in the pacers around 2018-2019. But I honestly always knew about the pacers growing up in Indiana. We would always get all the major sports teams mascots to come to our elementary school to talk about health, give away mini basketballs, and have a fun time. Some players I remember from past seasons are, oladipo, tj Warren, and sabonis.
As a European who supports both the Clippers and the Pacers, I notice that only one fanbase started to show up on my feed. (These post-elimination Posts are tough to see)
I wondered if there’s any funny Pacer fan accounts floating around?
My wife and I will be up in Indy Friday evening and would like to find a good place to watch the game at. Right now Kilroy’s is the plan. Where do other fans hang out at?

View on RedditI didn’t get the watch the second half of the game, because I was busy tonight—definitely bummed that we couldn’t pull this one off. I will say though, the first half did not inspire much confidence. Seems like the consensus and that we got out worked and Haliburton was a no-show on offense?
I’m also so confused how the hell a professional basketball team is this bad at playing against a zone. When the Cavs switched to zone D in the 2nd, we might as well have been a G League team. Again, I don’t know what went down in the second half, but I’ve never understood the strategy of “make 3s to bust up the zone” cause what the hell do you do if the 3s aren’t dropping? It’s not like any teams’ starting 5 is Steph Curry, Ray Allen, Kyle Korver, Dame Lillard and JJ Redick or some shit. All it takes is an off night and all of a sudden Mitchell and Mobley are busting your balls in the paint, meanwhile we’re coming up with empty possession after empty possession.
And my goodness, Mobley. It seems like that man is a Pacers killer. Not like AJ Green mind you, but he’s so long and extremely talented in the post—sure, Siakam has been playing like hot ass for the most part, but Mobley has a lot to do with that I think. What’s the answer to that?
Oh, and when will this team learn to fucking rebound? Damn near every possession I’ve watched outside of crunch time, Pacers run back on defense before a missed shot has bounced out of the restricted area. Insane how poor our rebounding can be.
Can’t wait for Game 4–I’m really tired of hearing reactionary takes about how we clearly can’t beat a healthy team—I want to see the guys prove everyone wrong.
It’s Draymond Green for me. I absolutely cannot stand that son of a bitch. Such a dirty, disrespectful and unsportsmanlike player.

When's the last time this team looked like it had a clue what to do against a zone?

View on RedditI get all the ECF & Finals plans/fantasies, I get the excitement, but the series isn't over yet.
We beat the Knicks last year after being down 0-2. The circumstances were different, but the point remains. We're playing the best-record team in the East and we still have to beat them two more times, and that's no easy task.
Stay humble guys. And go Pacers!
Half the battle of this series is strategically whining in game and in postgame conferences about the opponent’s physicality and ref advantage to get better calls next game. We were set to get a better whistle next game until Rick lost his shit and sent JJ to be physical now refs will fuck us early next game. This sounds like a shitpost but its not idk what he was thinking
is there shirts for all playoff games? Do we know if game 4 will have one?
Per vegas odds. OKC still the favorite but I'm not sure I've ever seen us this high in recent history. Pacers need to go for the kill on the Cavs. The time is now.
Anybody got any advice on the smoothest way to get into the parking garage tonight? Last time I though I was clever by trying to go down Alabama, but that was a massive mistake lol
I’ve been imagining a Pacers vs Warriors finals; with Draymond trying his dirty-play nonsense while James Johnson is on our bench.
... Davis seems to hate home teams. Over the last several years, road teams are winning 60% of the playoff games led by Davis, which is obviously alarming.
Good morning r/Pacers!

View on RedditI don’t like to bring these discussions right after a loss but the people are make this seem like we can only beat injured teams and not healthy teams. I obviously disagree with that. But to prove them wrong, we need to step it up better. It’s not about losing the game today, but the way we lost. Just from the start of the game, we saw the complacency of not getting our rebounds and being down 11-0. We pulled it off later on but the second quarter and the entire game after that was a total mess. Haliburton dropping 4 points is not a something a superstar would do. Siakam stepped up little too late. Obi Topin was completely abysmal. We just got out rebounded offensively (18-4). Cavs were winning fouls after fouls. Yes, the refs were horrendous but that doesn’t justify the effort our two superstars made today. So maybe the impact of their Mobley, Hunter, and Garland completely killed us over. We just got a reality check. Let’s hope the guys step up and get the W in Game 4.
I mean TNT is cool but why not give US the 2:30 ABC spot?! Nobody wanna watch that GSW vs Wolves without their man stars!

View on RedditI live in Australia and have never been to a game but I live and breathe this team and want to fly over and watch a game or two. I’m asking for advice in regard to the best site to purchase tickets. Out of pure superstition, I will not mention exactly what I’m looking at but the tickets are expensive and so I want to make sure I get the best deal. So far I think seatgeek is the best option? Especially considering the clear outlining of getting a refund should the games not happen. Any help would be appreciated. Best hotels or apartments in Indy would also be of great use. Go Pacers.
